Registration Opens for 81st Independence Day Ceremony at Presidential Palace
Registration for members of the public to attend the ceremony commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence at the Merdeka Palace opens today, Wednesday (5/8).
Members of the public can register through the Pandang Istana website (https://pandang.istanapresiden.go.id), which becomes accessible from today.
The registration process will run for three days, from 5 to 7 August 2026, with registration opening each day at 10.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
When registering, members of the public need to prepare a number of documents and data before completing the registration.
These documents and data include an identity card (KTP/KIA), an active email address, an active telephone number, and a recent formal self-portrait holding an identity document (KTP/KIA).
“The committee provides a limited quota each day, and registration will close once the quota is filled,” according to a press release from the Government Communication Agency of the Republic of Indonesia on Wednesday (5/8).
Given the limited number of invitations and the high level of public interest every Independence Day commemoration, prospective participants are advised to prepare all the requirements in advance so they can complete the registration process as quickly as possible.
Separately, Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro said around 8,100 members of the public have been invited.
“It will be attended by at least 8,100 people as a symbol of the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia,” Juri said at a press conference at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday (31/7).
In addition to the flag ceremony, Juri said the government will also hold a people’s festival at the National Monument on the same day.
He said the festival at Monas will be enlivened with a variety of activities, ranging from a public entertainment stage and traditional 17 August-style competitions, to booths for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and 500,000 portions of free food.
“Then for parents who bring their children to the Monas area, it will also be a playground. So we are providing plenty of children’s games,” he said.

Members of the public can take the following steps to avoid missing out when official registration opens:
- Monitor the official Pandang Istana website
Prospective participants need to monitor the latest information through official government channels, particularly the Pandang Istana service. In previous years, registration was conducted through the official Pandang Istana website by completing an online form.
- Prepare personal data before registration opens
To speed up the registration process, members of the public are advised to prepare documents and personal information such as:
An identity card (KTP).
A Population Identification Number (NIK).
An active telephone number.
An active email address.
A recent photograph.
Supporting documents as required by the committee.
This data is used to verify prospective participants.
- Complete the registration form correctly
Once registration opens, participants need to fill in the form completely and ensure all data matches their official identity. Errors in the data entered may hinder the verification process.
In previous years, participants were also asked to choose the type of attendance, such as taking part in the morning flag-raising ceremony or the afternoon flag-lowering ceremony.
- Wait for the committee’s verification process
Once the data has been submitted, the committee will carry out verification. Participants who pass will receive further information regarding the official invitation and the procedures for attending the ceremony.

As the number of participants is limited, members of the public can take the following preparatory steps:

Prepare your documents before accessing the registration page.
Ensure personal data matches your identity documents.
Use a photograph that complies with the committee’s requirements.
At the 80th anniversary commemoration in 2025, the government provided thousands of invitations for members of the public to attend the ceremony at the Palace, with the majority of the quota allocated to the general public.
General requirements for attending the ceremony at the Palace
Although the official requirements for the 2026 anniversary have not yet been announced, in previous years participants were required to meet a number of conditions, such as being an Indonesian citizen, completing the registration data correctly, bringing original identity documents, and complying with the prevailing dress code and security rules.
Members of the public are also urged not to trust parties offering tickets or entry access for payment. Attendance at the ceremony at the Palace is arranged exclusively through the government’s official mechanism.
