Registration for the Ministry of Transportation's Free Homecoming Programme to Open This Weekend
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Ministry of Transportation, through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, will open registration for the free homecoming programme starting this weekend.
Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that registration will open on 1 March 2026 online via the official website nusantara.kemenhub.go.id and will close once the quota is met.
“Registration will open on 1 March 2026 online via the website nusantara.kemenhub.go.id. Registration will close when the entire quota has been met,” said Aan in an official statement on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
For this year’s programme, the government has prepared 401 buses with a total capacity of 15,834 passengers for the homecoming and return journeys.
The free homecoming programme serves 34 destination cities in 10 provinces, including Palembang, Lampung, Bengkulu, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Garut, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, and several cities in Central Java and East Java such as Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Madiun, Surabaya, Malang, and Tulungagung.
For the return journey, departures will be made from 12 cities, including Kuningan, Madiun, Surabaya, Palembang, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.
In addition to passenger transport, the government also provides motorcycle transport facilities, with a total capacity of 240 motorcycles, specifically for the Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto routes.
Aan explained that the departure of the homecoming flow will be divided over three days from several terminals in the Greater Jakarta area.
The return journey is scheduled for 25 March 2026 from various regional terminals, including Bulupitu Purwokerto, Mangkang Semarang, Giwangan Yogyakarta, Tirtonandi Solo, Bungurasih Surabaya, and terminals in Palembang, Padang, Medan, and Aceh.
To ensure the safety of the journey, all bus fleets have undergone safety inspections or ramp checks.
