Registration for Senior High School Academic Competency Test Open Until 27 September
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has reopened registration for the 2026 Academic Competency Test (TKA) for senior high school, vocational school, and Islamic senior high school students. Registration runs from 27 July to 27 September 2026, with the main TKA scheduled for 26 October to 8 November 2026.
The TKA is a nationally standardised instrument for measuring academic achievement. Its results can be utilised as one of the considerations for selection into the next level of education, as well as a source of information on student learning outcomes.
Head of the Education Assessment Centre, Rahmawati, stated that this year’s TKA implementation has been prepared with a longer lead time compared to the previous year. “This year, we hope to be better and more prepared for the TKA registration preparation period because the implementation timeline is longer,” Rahmawati said on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
According to Rahmawati, the 2026 TKA is a refinement of last year’s implementation. Various inputs from evaluation results have been used as the basis for improvements in both policy and technical execution.
Several changes have been applied to this year’s administration. Kemendikdasmen has arranged the schedule so that participants only work on one compulsory subject per day. The working duration has also been extended to 75 minutes, giving participants more optimal time to complete the questions.
For vocational school (SMK) participants specifically, the government has increased the number of vocational subjects based on skill programme clusters to 50 subjects.
Additionally, participants who still have residual data can still register but are urged to promptly correct their data. Kemendikdasmen will also strengthen TKA supervision through the involvement of more universities and integrate the TKA with the National Assessment (AN) to improve efficiency and the quality of administration.
Kemendikdasmen urges all prospective participants to ensure their personal data is correct before registering. Head of the Primary and Secondary Education Policy Agency (BKPDM), Toni Toharudin, said these various refinements are part of the government’s commitment to delivering assessments that are increasingly high-quality and have integrity.
Toni stated that the various improvements in this year’s TKA implementation reflect Kemendikdasmen’s commitment to continuously providing assessments that are increasingly high-quality, have integrity, and are in the best interests of students. “We invite all prospective participants to make the most of this opportunity by preparing themselves as well as possible and following all stages according to the provisions,” Toni said.
