Regional reps tour eastern Indonesia

JAKARTA: After his election as the chairman of the Regional Representatives faction at the People's Consultative Assembly, Oesman Sapta departed on Monday for three towns in eastern Indonesia to promote the reinstatement of the faction.

Flying aboard a special aircraft, Oesman and his 17-member delegation left Halim Perdanakusuma Airport for the three-day visit that will take them to Merauke in Papua, Kupang in East Nusa Tenggara and Makassar in South Sulawesi.

During their trip, the delegates will hold talks with governors and members of local legislatures.

The delegation included officials from the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, the Ministry of Transportation and state bank Mandiri. Minister of Transportation Agum Gumelar and Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Jacob Nuwa Wea were originally included in the team but didn't turn up at the airport.

The faction was reinstated at the Assembly's Annual Session, held in November last year. -- JP
