Regional police chief installed
BOGOR (JP): Col. Abubakar Nataprawira, the chief of Palembang Police in South Sumatra, was installed Wednesday as Bogor's new regional police chief, replacing Col. Dadang Garnida.
Before his promotion to Palembang, Abubakar, 46, was the chief of Central Jakarta Police, where he handled many serious cases including the July 21 riots last year.
In the eyes of his superiors, Abubakar was marked for promotion.
Yesterday's ceremony was conducted by West Java Police chief Maj. Gen. Chairuddin Ismail, who briefed Abubakar on the significant increase in blue-collar crimes, such as money laundering, banking crimes and fake credit cards, in Bogor.
Abubakar's predecessor, Dadang, will be the R&D assistant at National Police Education and Training Institution. (24/bsr)
