Regional Police Chief Distributes National Police Chief's Aid to Personnel Affected by Flores Earthquake
Kupang (ANTARA) - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, has distributed aid from the National Police Chief and social assistance to personnel of the Manggarai District Police affected by the Flores earthquake in Ruteng, Manggarai Regency.
Speaking from Ruteng on Wednesday, the NTT Police Chief stated that the aid was distributed after inspecting the condition of personnel, members’ houses, and several police facilities damaged by the earthquake.
“This is a form of direct attention from leadership to our members. The National Police are not only required to provide services to the public, but also to ensure that personnel affected by disasters receive attention and support,” he said.
During the visit, the Regional Police Chief was accompanied by the Chairperson of the NTT Bhayangkari, Mrs Vily Rudi Darmoko, the NTT Deputy Police Chief, Brigadier General Faizal, several senior officials of the NTT Regional Police, and the Manggarai District Police Chief.
In addition to personnel’s homes, damage also occurred at the Manggarai District Police Headquarters, the Cibal Police Sub-station Headquarters and Barracks, the Reo Police Sub-station Barracks, and the Satarmese Police Sub-station Headquarters and Barracks.
A total of 35 containers of social assistance were prepared to meet the needs of affected personnel and their families. The aid was symbolically handed over by the NTT Police Chief to four representatives of the recipients.
“We are here to ensure the safety of all personnel and their families. The distribution of the National Police Chief’s Aid and this social assistance is a tangible manifestation of the National Police leadership’s care and solidarity for members facing misfortune. Amidst this trial, the National Police must remain solid and strengthen one another,” said the NTT Police Chief.
The Head of Public Relations for the NTT Regional Police, Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, stated that the Chief’s visit was not merely an inspection agenda, but a form of leadership presence to ensure that personnel and families affected by the disaster receive attention and support.
The NTT Police Chief also reminded personnel and the community of Manggarai Regency to remain vigilant against the possibility of aftershocks and to prioritise the safety of themselves and their families.
The public was also urged not to easily believe or spread unverified information regarding disaster-related news.
“It is hoped that this aid can alleviate the burden on members and families who are affected. The most important thing is that we remain together, helping and strengthening each other in facing this situation,” said Henry.
The NTT Regional Police ensured that support and monitoring of affected personnel will continue throughout the post-earthquake recovery process in Flores.
