Regional Police Check Purwomartani Toll Road Readiness Ahead of Eid 2026 Travel Rush
The Deputy Head of Traffic Management at the Yogyakarta Regional Police headquarters, Senior Police Commissioner B. Widya Mustikaningrum, announced during a statement in Sleman on Tuesday that the Purwomartani-Prambanan toll road section will be operational for vehicles travelling from Yogyakarta towards Klaten, Solo, and surrounding areas.
“The Purwomartani-Prambanan toll road, spanning approximately 12.25 kilometres from Yogyakarta towards Klaten, Solo and beyond, will be operational from 16 to 29 March 2026 between 06:00 and 18:00 local time,” she said.
She explained that the toll road section will be restricted to Class I vehicles, which include light vehicles such as sedans, jeeps, minibuses, small trucks, and buses. Vehicles entering the Purwomartani toll road cannot exit at Prambanan but must proceed directly to the Klaten toll gate and beyond.
“Entry to the Purwomartani toll road is free; however, tolls will still be charged at subsequent toll gates. Therefore, we advise toll road users to always check their electronic payment card balances,” Mustikaningrum stated.
Travellers heading to Yogyakarta from Central Java can exit through the Prambanan toll gate or several other exit points in Klaten, then continue their journey to Yogyakarta via arterial roads.
During the Eid exodus and return period, the Regional Police will implement traffic management measures, including closure of several U-turn points on various road sections. Additionally, one-way traffic systems will be implemented on selected roads within Yogyakarta city and beach tourism areas in Gunungkidul District to reduce vehicle congestion.
“We urge all road users to comply with traffic regulations and follow guidance from field officers and additional signage installed to facilitate smooth traffic flow,” she said.
