Regional Military Commander Visits PetroChina's Betara Gas Plant
The commander of Indonesia’s Military Region II/Tuanku Imam Bonjol (Pangdam II/TIB), Major General Arief Gajah Mada, conducted a working visit to the Betara Gas Plant facility managed by PetroChina International Jabung Ltd on Tuesday, 10 March. The visit was part of the commander’s official agenda in the Korem 042/Garuda Putih area to inspect regional security conditions and strengthen coordination with various strategic stakeholders.
During the visit, Pangdam II/TIB was accompanied by the commander of Korem 042/Garuda Putih Nyamin and the commander of Kodim 0416/Tanjung Jabung Zulhiardi. The delegation was received directly by Field Manager of PetroChina International Jabung Ltd Arif Hari Suseno, accompanied by Security Commander Arief Atmoko and company management and security personnel.
PetroChina’s management expressed appreciation for military support in maintaining security stability in the company’s operational area. The security apparatus was recognised as playing a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of upstream oil and gas activities, particularly in the Jabung Block, which is one of the country’s strategic energy-producing regions.
For PetroChina International Jabung, this visit represented both an honour and an opportunity to strengthen synergy between the company and military personnel. The collaboration established thus far has helped create a conducive operating environment for the company. Support and synergy with the military have been important factors in maintaining security and smooth operations of upstream oil and gas activities in the Jabung Block.
Betara Gas Plant is part of vital national infrastructure with a strategic role in supporting energy supply. Therefore, close coordination and cooperation with security apparatus is essential to ensure operations remain safe and sustainable.
The working visit also provided the military with an opportunity to directly observe production facilities and understand the strategic role of the upstream oil and gas industry in supporting national energy security. Dialogue between company management and military personnel also served as a means to strengthen communication and coordination in maintaining security stability in the operational area.
PetroChina hopes that the positive synergy established with the military can continue to be strengthened. With security stability secured around the operational area, upstream oil and gas activities in the Jabung Block are expected to continue contributing to meeting national energy needs while supporting economic development and improving community welfare in the region.
