Regional Military Commander: Merah Putih Bridge is Proof of State Care

The Commander of the XIV/Hasanuddin Regional Military Command, Major General TNI Bangun Nawoko, stated that the construction of the Perintis Garuda Merah Putih Bridge in Tompobulu District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, serves as a tangible manifestation of the state’s commitment to its people. Speaking in Makassar on Wednesday, Pangdam Bangun Nawoko noted that for many years, local residents had to face various risks when crossing the river, particularly during the rainy season. Consequently, the presence of the Perintis Garuda Merah Putih Bridge is expected to provide a sense of security and enhance the quality of life for the community. “With the arrival of the Perintis Garuda Merah Putih Bridge, we hope that these dangers will no longer threaten our children, our mothers, and the entire community at any time,” the Commander said. He added that the unity between the TNI and the people is a vital asset in achieving development that provides direct benefits to society. The Regent of Maros, Chaidir Syam, also expressed his gratitude to the Commander of XIV/Hasanuddin and the entire TNI ranks for delivering the bridge, which has long been a necessity for the Tompobulu community. “This bridge will provide extraordinary benefits for the people. Children can now attend school more safely, residents can access their plantations more easily, and economic activities will continue to flourish,” he stated during the inauguration ceremony, which was officiated by the Vice Governor of South Sulawesi, Fatmawati Rusdi. The inauguration of the Perintis Garuda Merah Putih Bridge serves as evidence that collaboration between the government, the TNI, and the community can deliver real solutions to the needs of citizens.
