Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal received and held a dialogue with the board of the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI) in the leadership room of the Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. The meeting was also attended by APKASI Chairman Bursah Zarnubi, along with board members and a number of regents from various provinces.

A variety of input and aspirations were conveyed directly by the regents to the DPR leadership on Friday (24/7/2026), ranging from regional governance to support for accelerating development in their respective areas. One of the main issues that emerged during the dialogue was the budget efficiency policy, which has recently sparked public debate.

Responding to this, the DPR expressed its understanding of the dynamics and affirmed its commitment to working hand in hand with the government to formulate the best solutions for the development and progress of regions across Indonesia. Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal stated that the DPR RI provides the widest possible space for APKASI and all regents to channel their aspirations.

“We in the DPR RI are here to listen directly to the voices of the regents. The aspirations from APKASI today are important input for us to continue pushing for budget policies that favour the acceleration of regional development,” said Cucun.

Dasco added that the results of today’s dialogue would serve as material for the DPR to continue coordinating with the central government, ensuring that budget efficiency policies remain aligned with regional development needs.

Meanwhile, APKASI Chairman Bursah Zarnubi appreciated the dialogue space provided by the DPR leadership, while emphasising the importance of synergy between the central and regional governments amidst current fiscal challenges.

“We appreciate the dialogue space provided by the DPR RI leadership today. APKASI hopes that future budget efficiency policies will still provide room for regions to maintain the quality of basic services for the community, ranging from education and health to infrastructure,” said Bursah.

Through this meeting, the DPR reaffirmed its commitment to continuously synergise with the government and all regents to deliver optimal budget policies and support the development and progress of all regions in Indonesia.
