Regional Coordinator Apologises After Video of Raw Eggs in Free Nutritious Meal Programme Goes Viral

A video has gone viral depicting raw eggs being distributed as part of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at a school in the Ungaran area, Semarang Regency. The Regional Coordinator of the Nutrition Service Unit (Korwil SPPG) has issued a formal apology regarding the incident.

The circulating footage shows that the eggs provided in the MBG meal had partially cracked shells, with the raw contents dripping into the meal containers. The person filming the video also highlighted slices of potatoes that appeared dark brown and spotted with black, contrasting with other lighter-coloured potato slices.

“I am Sukma, the Regional Coordinator for Semarang Regency. First and foremost, I apologise for the incident as reported,” said the Korwil SPPG of Semarang Regency, Muhammad Romi Dian Sukma, via a WhatsApp message.

“We have reported this matter to our leadership, and the relevant Nutrition Service Unit is currently undergoing evaluation,” Sukma added.

Sukma expressed hope that such an incident would not recur and advised beneficiaries to provide direct feedback or criticism to the relevant MBG kitchens.

When asked for separate confirmation, the Regional Coordinator of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Central Java, Reza Mahendra, explained that the menu was served by an SPPG in West Ungaran on Friday (18/09/2026). According to Reza, the issue of the undercooked egg occurred in only one of the thousands of meal containers served that day.

“The undercooked egg menu was reported in only one meal out of 2,463 beneficiaries,” Reza told local media on Monday (21/09/2026).
