Regional Commander: Yonif 725/WRG Task Force Discovers KKB Cannabis Plantation in Kurima

The Commander of Kogabwilhan III, Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, stated that the Yonif 725/WRG Task Force discovered a cannabis plantation belonging to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya.

He reported that the plantation, consisting of 21,400 cannabis plants, was found in the Kurima District, Yahukimo Regency, Highland Papua, on Wednesday (9/9).

“The cannabis plants ready for harvest in the field were successfully secured by uprooting them,” said Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, when contacted from Jayapura on Thursday.

Lucky noted that the cannabis field was discovered after soldiers conducted investigations into social media posts, which included photos of Egianus Kogoya’s KKB in the cannabis field.

“The location of the cannabis field found by the soldiers matches the background of the photos of Egianus Kogoya’s KKB,” said Lieutenant General Lucky.

According to him, the cannabis field, located in Ibiroma within the Kodap III Ndugama Derakma complex, is suspected to be used to finance KKB operations.

The cannabis plants seized from the field belonging to Egianus Kogoya’s KKB will be handed over to the police for destruction.

The discovery of the cannabis field proves that information regarding the KKB possessing cannabis plantations to be sold for funding their actions is true.

“TNI soldiers will continue to search for cannabis fields planted by the KKB, as this can destroy the future of the younger generation in Papua,” said Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto.
