Jayapura (ANTARA) - The Commander of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih, Major General TNI Febriel Buyung Sikumbang, has expressed his appreciation for five members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who have returned to Indonesia from Papua New Guinea (PNG) alongside their families, surrendering three short-barreled firearms and ammunition.

“The three firearms surrendered include an FN type, a revolver, and a locally assembled weapon, along with ammunition,” said Febriel, accompanied by the Commander of Korem 172/PWY, Brigadier General TNI Robby Suryadi, in Jayapura on Sunday.

According to him, the five KKB members were previously residing in Papua New Guinea, which borders Indonesia.

Febriel stated that the return of the five KKB members with their families and the surrender of the firearms were made possible through the role of LK, who has declared their return to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) since 2019.

He noted that LK had invited KKB members who still maintain family ties with him to return to Indonesia to jointly develop a pig farming business.

“Mr LK is currently a pig farmer, and it is hoped that his business will continue to grow,” said Febriel.

According to the Regional Commander, Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih, through its subordinate units, will welcome with open arms those who were previously in opposition but wish to return to Indonesia and reside in their home villages.

“Hopefully, in the future, more of our brothers who previously joined the KKB group will return to the embrace of the Motherland to build their hometowns together and assist in maintaining security,” Febriel added.
