Regional Banks Urged to Become Economic Orchestrators, This is Bank Jakarta's Strategy
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Bank Jakarta is targeting a broader role as a driver of the capital’s economy. This transformation is being carried out by strengthening the bank’s function as a connector within the transaction ecosystem, no longer just a provider of financial services.
Bank Jakarta’s President Director Agus H Widodo stated that regional banks are required to take a more active role in promoting economic activities. This aligns with changing market needs that demand ease of transactions and service integration.
“Bank Jakarta continues to move and transform, from previously being known as a regional bank, to becoming a bank capable of orchestrating the economy in Jakarta,” said Agus on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
According to Agus, this role also aligns with the joint agreement of the Association of Regional Development Banks. Regional banks are encouraged to become the main engine driving the economy in their respective regions.
“Regional banks going forward must become economic orchestrators in their areas, not just financial institutions,” said Agus.
To realise this, Bank Jakarta is promoting integration between business actors and customers through the utilisation of digital technology. Services such as JakOne Mobile and debit cards are being maximised to accelerate transactions and expand access.
In addition, Bank Jakarta is also expanding collaborations with various business actors to create a more connected economic ecosystem. This step is expected to strengthen economic circulation in Jakarta.
One of the efforts undertaken is through the organisation of XPORIA 2026 at Jakarta City Hall on 20-23 April 2026. This event brings together merchants and customers in one transaction space.
“This is not just an exhibition, but an experiential space. We want the public not only to see, but also to directly experience various flagship products,” said Agus.
Through this event, Bank Jakarta presents various products from culinary to lifestyle to encourage direct transactions. This approach is considered able to accelerate economic circulation at the community level.
“Through this event, we want to bring together merchants and customers so they can transact more easily and efficiently. Ultimately, this will move Jakarta’s economic wheels in a real way,” said Agus.
Bank Jakarta’s Corporate Secretary Arie Rinaldi stated that this step provides added value for business actors and customers. Bank Jakarta will also continue to expand collaborations to strengthen financial inclusion.
“Going forward, we will continue to encourage service innovations and expand collaborations to create a more inclusive and sustainable financial ecosystem,” said Arie.
