Klungkung Regent I Made Satria has voiced his concerns regarding the Bali provincial government’s plan to dispose of organic waste in his regency. He also mentioned that he has not yet received any official information about the plan, including the construction of an organic waste processing facility with a budget of Rp 400 billion.

“Up to now, there has been no official information from the province. This would make Klungkung the central hub for organic waste management for the Province of Bali, with all organic waste from across Bali being sent here. Of course, that would involve traffic routes through Klungkung Regency. This is not good for our tourism,” Satria told the media on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Satria explained that he had previously obtained information about the plan to build the organic waste processing centre in Klungkung verbally from the Governor of Bali. At that time, he was accompanying Bali Governor Wayan Koster in inspecting the planned location for the facility.

“From Mr Governor. It happened that I was invited to have lunch with the investor who will build the organic waste processing,” he clarified.

The plan, which has drawn public attention, will soon be followed up by the Klungkung Regency government. His side is now beginning to build coordination with the Bali provincial government to discuss the plan further.

Satria emphasised that the Klungkung Regency government will provide several considerations, particularly regarding the determination of the construction site.

“The location is the main consideration,” Satria stressed.

He assessed that if the location is in a tourist destination area, it could have negative impacts in the future. “If the location is in the centre of tourism, this would not be good in the future,” he added.

Therefore, Satria emphasised the importance of discussion and a review of the plan. “A study must be conducted again,” he concluded.
