Regent Reveals Students in Remote Sumedang Areas Still Unreached by Free Nutritious Meal Programme

A number of schools in remote and outermost areas of Sumedang Regency have yet to be reached by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir has proposed 28 MBG kitchen points to serve these remote and outermost areas. “I have visited SMPN 1 Surian. This is a remote junior high school at the outermost point of Sumedang. The school has now been revitalised, but the children here have not yet received MBG,” he said. According to him, meeting the nutritional needs of students is an important part of supporting children’s growth, development, and learning quality. The Sumedang Regency Government has proposed 28 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens, prioritised for the outermost and remote areas, including Surian District. Dony hopes the proposal will soon receive operational approval so that MBG services can reach students in Surian. “I earnestly request, as per our letter, that the SPPG in Surian be granted operational approval immediately,” he said. He stated that the presence of MBG in remote areas would be a tangible form of equitable government service. Children living far from the centre of government have the same right to receive nutritious food. The Sumedang Regency Government, he said, has coordinated with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) so that MBG services can be immediately expanded to areas that have not yet been reached. He hopes the Surian SPPG can begin operating soon so that elementary and junior high school students in the area can enjoy the MBG programme.
