JAKARTA — The Prosperous Justice Party (PAN) has expressed regret over the actions of Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, who has fallen victim to a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

PAN Deputy Chair Viva Yoga Mauladi stated that Thobari’s conduct was of a personal nature.

“PAN affirms that the actions taken by the individual in question constitute personal responsibility, violate PAN’s platform of struggle, and do not reflect the values, principles, and commitment of PAN in upholding integrity, transparency, and clean governance,” Viva told Kompas.com on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Viva stated that the party has also removed Thobari from his structural party position.

According to him, PAN has been committed since its founding to supporting the eradication of corruption in Indonesia. Consequently, PAN fully respects the legal process currently underway at the KPK.

“We believe that law enforcement must proceed transparently, objectively, professionally, and in accordance with principles of justice,” he said.

Viva also offered an apology to the public for the actions of his party member.

“We extend our apologies for this incident. PAN remains committed to continuing to work for the people, serve, and champion the interests of the people, as well as maintain public trust in building a nation free from corruption,” he continued.

Beyond Thobari, the KPK also arrested Vice Regent of Rejang Lebong, Hendri. The pair of regional officials were apprehended during an operation conducted by the KPK in Bengkulu on Monday evening, 9 March 2026.

“Yes, the Regent of Rejang Lebong,” confirmed KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto, according to Antara on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

In total, 13 individuals were secured by the KPK in the sting operation conducted on Monday evening, including Thobari and Hendri.
