Regent of Cilacap Arrested in Corruption Investigation; 8 Billion Rupiah Property Unveiled
The Regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Auliya Rachman, was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a sting operation conducted on Friday, 13 March 2026.
The arrest is suspected to be connected to allegations of bribery or fees received from various projects within the Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java.
During the operation, the KPK secured a total of 27 individuals across Cilacap Regency. Among them was Syamsul Auliya Rachman, who serves as the local regional head.
The remaining 26 individuals arrested came from various backgrounds, ranging from state administrators, civil servants, to private sector representatives.
All those caught in the sting operation are currently undergoing questioning at the Banyumas City Police Resort Headquarters.
KPK investigators also suspect there were financial flows received by Syamsul from the regional government projects in question. However, the KPK has yet to specify which projects are alleged to be connected to this case.
Based on reports in the Statement of Assets and Wealth of State Administrators (LHKPN) submitted to the KPK, Syamsul is recorded as possessing total wealth exceeding 12 billion rupiah.
The majority of his assets consist of land and building property valued at more than 8 billion rupiah.
LHKPN data shows Syamsul owns two properties comprising land and buildings with a combined value of approximately 8.15 billion rupiah.
The largest asset is a house situated on a plot of land measuring 3,234 square metres with a building area of approximately 1,000 square metres. The property is valued at 8 billion rupiah and is recorded as a gift transfer without formal deed.
Beyond property, Syamsul also reported vehicle ownership valued at a total of 1.4 billion rupiah.
The vehicles consist of two units: a Toyota Minibus obtained through undocumented gift transfer and one Toyota SUV listed as obtained through his own business activities.
In his asset declaration, Syamsul also listed various other assets.
In his report, Syamsul also reported debts totalling 215.61 million rupiah.
When all assets are totalled and debts are deducted, the total wealth Syamsul declared in the LHKPN amounts to approximately 12.04 billion rupiah.
For information, the LHKPN is a report that must be submitted by state administrators to the KPK as part of transparency efforts and corruption prevention measures.
