Regent Mahayastra Receives LVRI Star Award

Gianyar Regent I Made Agus Mahayastra has received the Bintang Legiun Veteran Republik Indonesia (LVRI) award. The honour serves as both a mark of distinction and a reminder of the service of veterans and heroes who fought until Indonesia achieved independence.

“Thank you for the conferment of the Bintang Legiun Veteran Republik Indonesia (LVRI) award,” Mahayastra said in a press release on Monday (17/8/2026).

Mahayastra said Indonesia’s independence has been won and defended. Now, that independence must be filled with efforts to improve public welfare and overcome poverty and ignorance.

On the matter of welfare, the Gianyar Regency Government has made efforts to provide attention and a decent life for veterans. As for the problem of ignorance, he has provided educational access for the younger generation. The Gianyar Regency Government continues to encourage the provision of scholarships so that Gianyar’s children obtain better educational opportunities and are able to compete.

He also expressed high appreciation to the public and all parties who have supported the development of Gianyar Regency. “Thank you veterans, thank you people of Gianyar, thank you to all who support development in Gianyar Regency,” Mahayastra said.

Chairman of the Legiun Veteran Republik Indonesia (LVRI) Bali, I Gusti Bagus Saputera, said Mahayastra is considered to have rendered service and contributed to the progress of the LVRI organisation and the strengthening of national values. It is therefore hoped that the spirit of togetherness will grow stronger, and the values of struggle and nationhood will be further preserved.

“The award further strengthens the spirit of togetherness in safeguarding the values of struggle and nationhood,” Bagus said.

Bagus said 1,352 people are registered as veterans in Bali. They fought physically to defend Indonesia’s independence from the revolutionary war era of 1945-1949, the Seroja military operation from 1975 to 1976, and those who were assigned to UN peacekeeping missions.

After 81 years, he hopes independence will be filled by the younger generation. “The younger generation must prepare themselves by studying seriously. Love our country, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke. Be patriots of the nation, be a generation that is honest and has integrity,” Bagus hoped.
