West Bandung Regent Jeje Ritchie Ismail has taken on a new status after graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the Government Studies programme at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (Unjani) in Cimahi.

Jeje underwent the graduation ceremony on Wednesday (15/4/2026) at the Unjani Auditorium, accompanied by his wife, who is also the younger sister of actor and Presidential Special Envoy for Youth Development and Arts Workers Raffi Ahmad, Syahnaz Sadiqah. His mother-in-law, Amy Qonita, also witnessed Jeje’s graduation ceremony.

“Alhamdulillah, today I am graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Government Studies. For me, even though I am no longer young, age is not a barrier to continuing to learn,” said Jeje.

According to him, completing his education amid the busyness of being a regional head is not easy. The Govinda drum band enthusiast had to divide his time between his duties as regent and his studies.

However, Jeje was fortunate because Unjani implemented both conventional and online learning, allowing him to finish his degree. “Insya Allah, with the knowledge gained during my studies at Unjani, it can be implemented to run the wheel of government.”

Unjani Cimahi Rector Agus Subagyo said that in this graduation, the university is releasing 1,810 graduates from all study programmes at Unjani. This graduation is being held over two days.

“In general, those graduating today number 1,810. Actually, we have around 2,100 graduates, but not all who graduate participate in the ceremony because some professional programmes like medicine, pharmacy, and so on are not required to attend the graduation,” explained Agus.

He said that students studying at Unjani come from diverse backgrounds, including various professions with busy schedules such as state officials to athletes. To accommodate this, the university implements both conventional and digital learning.

“There is no such thing as no time and so on because Unjani currently applies a learning system that is not only conventional but also digital. We conduct lectures in a hybrid manner, both online and offline. Thus, many officials as well as athletes can join the lectures,” he said.

To ensure graduates are ready to compete in the job market, Unjani also regularly holds career preparation (career development) sessions ahead of graduation. This programme includes soft skills training and featuring competent speakers from the business world and industry (DUDI).

“We want graduates to have not only a diploma but also the competencies needed in the job market. Our target is for graduates to be absorbed into the workforce within a maximum of three to four months after graduation,” said Agus.
