The Regent of the Seribu Islands, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan, has stated that the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is a momentum to accelerate development and ensure the government’s presence is felt by the community. “This commemoration is not merely an annual ceremony but also a momentum to strengthen unity,” he said during a Cross-Sector Coordination Meeting of the Regency Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimkab) in Jakarta on Monday. According to him, the archipelagic characteristics of the Seribu Islands mean that solid cross-sector coordination under the auspices of Forkopimkab is the key to the success of the entire series of activities. A number of technical aspects must be prepared ahead of the Independence Day commemoration series, ranging from the mobility of officers and ceremony participants, the readiness of the flag-raising squad, to logistics distribution to the islands, taking weather conditions into account. He added that security supervision in resort islands and residential islands is also a concern to ensure all areas of the Seribu Islands remain safe and conducive. He hopes that through this coordination meeting, all stakeholders can map potential obstacles early and prepare mitigation measures, particularly against various ideological, political, economic, social, and cultural vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, the Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency for the Seribu Islands, Achmad Yani Rivai Yusuf, explained that the coordination meeting also serves as a means to build intensive communication between the government, stakeholders, partners, and community leaders. “We want to build relationships and synergy with religious organisations and students to jointly maintain regional stability ahead of Independence Day,” he said. He noted that during the meeting, a symbolic distribution of the Red and White flag was carried out to members of Forkopimkab. The flags will subsequently be distributed and flown in all residential areas of the Seribu Islands. He urged the public to install and fly the flag throughout the month of independence as a form of love for the nation while strengthening the spirit of togetherness.
