Regent grilled over fake diploma
KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The regent of Muna, Ridwan, admitted on Monday that he had been questioned by members of the local legislative council (DPRD) for allegedly forging his senior high school diploma.
"I have been questioned by a special DPRD committee in Muna in relation to the accusation that I obtained a fake diploma," he said.
Ridwan denied that he had forged his diploma, as accused by the Regional Autonomy Monitoring Foundation (Yapod), based in Southeast Sulawesi.
He said he had provided the inquiry committee with a clear explanation on how he obtained the diplomas from the junior and senior high schools that he had attended.
La Ode Sefu, who heads Muna's DPRD special committee, said legislators will cross-check the regent's testimony by questioning leaders of the schools that issued his diplomas.
Ridwan has also been questioned by local police over the same case.--Antara
