Regent encourages collaboration for post-disaster recovery in Pidie Jaya
The acceleration of post-hydrometeorological disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction must be carried out in a measurable, integrated manner and be directly oriented towards the needs of the community, stated the Regent of Pidie Jaya, Sibral Malasyi.
Speaking in Pidie Jaya, Aceh, on Thursday, Sibral Malasyi urged all parties to collaborate to speed up the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the region following recent hydrometeorological disasters. This statement was made during an evaluation of post-disaster management, which was attended by members of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas PRR), regional government agencies, and other relevant institutions.
The Regent noted that the evaluation serves as a strategic step to align the efforts of the central government, the Aceh Provincial Government, and the Pidie Jaya Regency Government, ensuring all recovery programmes move in a unified direction. He also requested that regional agencies provide the latest, transparent, and verified data, including completed achievements, ongoing programmes, and various issues requiring further support and acceleration.
“We must not work in isolation. We must ensure the benefits of what has been completed, accelerate what is currently underway, and immediately find solutions for remaining problems. The community needs certainty that recovery is truly progressing,” he said.
Sibral emphasised that the priorities for rehabilitation and reconstruction must directly address the fundamental needs of the people, ranging from the accelerated provision of housing and the restoration of basic infrastructure to river management and flood control. Furthermore, the focus includes the rehabilitation of irrigation networks and agricultural land, the restoration of clean water supplies, and the strengthening of the economy for affected communities. All programmes must be synchronised to prevent overlap and ensure that government support yields maximum results.
“The presence of the PRR Task Force, alongside relevant ministries and agencies, can act as a lever to accelerate the resolution of various issues still faced by the local government,” he added.
For the Pidie Jaya Regency Government, Sibral Malelyi stated that the rehabilitation and reconstruction process is not merely about rebuilding damaged infrastructure, but also about restoring a sense of security, hope, and the continuity of life for the community. He noted that rehabilitation and reconstruction are efforts to rebuild community life, ensuring that all programmes are felt and utilised by the people.
“With strong togetherness and coordination, we hope the recovery of Pidie Jaya Regency can proceed more quickly, accurately, and sustainably,” he said.
The Regent of Pidie Jaya expressed his appreciation to the central government through the PRR Task Force, the Aceh Provincial Government, the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), the Polri (Indonesian National Police), and all parties involved in disaster management and recovery in the regency.
He invited all stakeholders to maintain their commitment and strengthen synergy towards the shared goal of ensuring that affected communities can quickly rise and return to normal life. “Let us unify our data, synchronise our programmes, and accelerate the work. Our hope is one: the community must recover and rise quickly, and Pidie Jaya Regency must become a disaster-resilient region,” he concluded.
