BANDUNG REGENCY - Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna visited the site of a flash flood in Puja Village, Desa Panyadap, Solokanjeruk Sub-district, Bandung Regency, on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

Known affectionately as “Kang DS,” the regent moved quickly to inspect the flash flood location immediately after returning from pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

The flash flood that occurred on Thursday evening, 12 March 2026, caused the walls of four residential houses to collapse and suffer severe damage. Additionally, 47 households were affected by the overflow of the Cisunggalah River.

The flash flood resulted from a 4-metre breach in the Cisunggalah River embankment, which stands 1 metre in height. The river overflow swept through densely populated settlements.

Besides the embankment breach, the flash flood was caused by the shallow depth of the Cisunggalah River channel. Heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of the Cisunggalah River causes water to flow rapidly downstream.

Regent Dadang Supriatna stated that upon returning from pilgrimage, he immediately visited Puja Village in Panyadap to assess the situation.

“The condition of Panyadap Village in Solokanjeruk Sub-district, which borders Bojong Village in Majalaya Sub-district, is almost similar. If there are no strategic steps taken, I am confident there will be no resolution and flash floods will continue to occur, with residents’ homes continuing to be affected,” said Kang DS.

The regent emphasised that if the situation were allowed to continue, it would constitute negligence. “Therefore, as regent, I am instructing the head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office to coordinate with the Citarum River Basin Authority,” he stated.
