Regent Asep: Creative Economy is a Vital Pillar of Development in Sukabumi Regency
The Regent of Sukabumi, H. Asep Japar, has welcomed the establishment of the Sukabumi Regency Creative Economy Committee, led by Iwan Sunarya, for the 2026-2030 term. According to the Regent, the creative economy has become one of the vital pillars of economic development in Sukabumi Regency.
“The creative economy sector does not only contribute to economic growth, but is also capable of creating jobs, driving innovation, and strengthening regional identity and competitiveness,” stated the Regent following the inauguration of the committee’s management at the Bumi Mandiri Center (BMC) Kadudampit on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
Regent Asep noted that the creative economy is closely linked to tourism, particularly regarding the development and support of tourism potential. “We possess extraordinary natural resources, which results in significant tourism potential. However, the development of high-quality tourist destinations will be further strengthened if supported by superior creative economy products and services, such as culinary arts, crafts, performing arts, and creative content,” he said.
In developing the creative economy, the Regent emphasised the need for solid and sustainable collaboration between all stakeholders. Consequently, the Sukabumi Regency Government is committed to continuously encouraging the strengthening of the creative economy and tourism ecosystem through policy, facilitation, and cross-sector collaboration.
Furthermore, the Regent urged the Creative Economy Committee to play an active role in formulating strategic programmes that are innovative and adaptive to modern developments, acting as a bridge between the government and various parties to build a robust ecosystem.
“Be the driving force in realising an advanced, inclusive, and high-quality creative economy that synergises with tourism development, for the realisation of a blessed Sukabumi Regency,” the Regent added.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Sukabumi Regency Creative Economy Committee, Iwan Sunarya, added that his organisation serves as a platform and a bridge for ideas to drive innovation, acting as a strategic partner to the local government in building the creative economy ecosystem. “Through warm collaboration, let us build and encourage the emergence of creative individuals and improve community welfare through the potential of Sukabumi Regency,” he said.
