Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested the Regent and Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong in a coordinated sting operation.

The KPK arrested Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari during the operation in Bengkulu on the evening of Monday, 9 March 2026. Fikri’s arrest was confirmed by Kompas.com to KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto on the morning of Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

“That’s correct, the Regent of Rejang Lebong,” said Fitroh.

According to KPK officials, Hendri and Fikri were arrested along with 13 others in Bengkulu. Of this number, nine individuals have been transported to Jakarta for further questioning.

“They have now arrived at the Red and White KPK Building,” the official stated.

The sting operation targeting the Regent and Deputy Regent is related to alleged bribery concerning project procurement within the District Government of Bengkulu.

“This sting operation is suspected to involve bribery related to projects within the district government,” officials explained.

The KPK also secured evidence including cash, documents, and electronic records. Five individuals have been designated as suspects, comprising three alleged bribe givers and two alleged bribe recipients.

“All individuals currently secured and brought to the Red and White KPK Building, totalling nine people, remain under intensive investigation at the inquiry stage,” officials confirmed.
