Regeneration of party cadres

I hope the United Development Party (PPP), which has just
concluded its congress, will deploy its younger generation in the
House of Representatives both at the central as well as the
provincial level in the 1997 general elections. Today we still
have old members in the House.

If it fails to regenerate, it will likely end up in third
place after the ruling Golkar party and the Indonesian Democratic
Party.

Golkar has proven to be more accommodating to Islamic
aspirations so the PPP should claim to be an Islamic party.

The PPP should nurture young intellectuals from the party's
affiliated organizations to fill the seats in the House.
