Regency to build a hospital

TANGERANG: Tangerang regency administration is set to build a hospital on a 3-hectare lot in Balaraja district early in 2004, to complement the municipality-run Tangerang General Hospital.

Secretary of the administration, Obun Burhanuddin, said on Thursday that less and less residents from the greater regency used the existing general hospital.

"The construction of the new hospital is crucial because the municipal-run hospital prefers to serve more town people than those living in the regency area," he said.

Obun refused to further elaborate on the reasons and other details of the construction, such as the total funds required or the developer who will be granted the project, but only said that the project would start in January 2004. -- JP
