Regency Completes Sakura Bridge Repairs to Improve Tourist Access
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Thousand Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency has completed repairs to Sakura Bridge in the Japanese Village area of Untung Jawa Island. The bridge provides access to Sakura Park, and the work is intended to make the route easier for residents and tourists to use.
“Steps have been added to improve visitors’ safety and comfort when crossing the bridge, particularly when they stop to take photographs in the area,” Pulau Untung Jawa village chief Muslim said in Jakarta on Monday.
He said the work was needed because the bridge’s surface had been damaged, creating a risk that visitors could slip or lose their balance while crossing.
Sakura Bridge is one of the access routes to Sakura Park, a tourist attraction on Untung Jawa Island, he added.
The repairs involved installing steps on the bridge, which is eight metres long and three metres wide. Each step is around 17 centimetres high, Muslim said.
Suherman, coordinator of the Untung Jawa Island Coastal Water Resources team, said 10 team members took part in the work.
“The work supports the bridge’s role as an access route for visitors to Sakura Park while also improving safety when crossing,” he said.
Muhadi, 42, a local micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) operator near Sakura Park, said he hoped the repaired route would make visitors’ trips more comfortable and benefit businesses in the surrounding area.
“Hopefully, after the repairs, more visitors will come to Sakura Park and business at the nearby MSMEs will pick up,” he said.
