Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Kepulauan Seribu Regency has begun the environmental road maintenance project on Sabira Island, Pulau Harapan Ward, North Thousand Islands, with a contract value of Rp5.64 billion.

“The work contract started on 6 April and runs until 4 August 2026, with a value of Rp5.64 billion,” said the Head of the Lighting Section of UKT 2 Kepulauan Seribu, who is also the Commitment Making Official (PPK) Wibih Abdi, in Jakarta on Monday.

He stated that the area of environmental road maintenance reaches 3,643.74 square metres, targeted for completion within the next four months.

This road maintenance, Wibih said, is being carried out by the service provider PT Doray Putra Perkasa, with supervision by PT Turba Kalimal Konsultan.

He explained that the road construction uses K-300 instant concrete with a thickness of around 10 centimetres, in accordance with urban area road standards to make it stronger and more durable.

Meanwhile, the total length of the road being handled reaches 3,643.74 metres, with varying widths between one and three metres.

“Currently, progress has entered the stage of installing side drains around 30 metres,” he said.

According to him, the presence of these side drains is very important to support the drainage system.

“So it can prevent water pooling during the rainy season,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of RW 03 on Sabira Island, Muhammad Ali Kurniawan, hopes the work can proceed smoothly and not disrupt community activities.

He said that the work is currently at the stage of installing side drains.

“We hope this road development runs smoothly and does not cause pooling during the rainy season,” he said.
