JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction, Tri Waluyo, has asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to provide three waste bins for every household in the capital.

He believes that residents need the facility of three waste bins so that the waste sorting program from home can run well.

“There are three items, if I’m not mistaken? These can be provided in the form of plastic bags or bins. If each house is given three bags or three containers, it will be used to sort waste,” said Tri when contacted by Kompas.com via WhatsApp message, Friday (15/5/2026).

Therefore, Tri proposed that each house be given three waste containers to separate the types of waste that have been sorted.

“When issuing a Governor’s Instruction on sorting waste, it must also provide the facilities. So that the community really thinks, ‘Oh yes, we are indeed ordered, asked to sort waste.’ Don’t just give instructions, but don’t provide the facilities. The community usually doesn’t care,” he added.

Later, the three waste bins can be used to separate organic waste, inorganic waste, and other types of waste from home.

Organic waste is waste that is easily decomposed, including food scraps and leaves.

Meanwhile, inorganic waste includes plastics, bottles, paper, and cans that can still be recycled.

He hopes that this step can support the waste reduction program in Jakarta so that the volume of waste disposed of at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Facility can be reduced.

For information, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, previously issued Governor’s Instruction Number 5 of 2026 concerning the Movement for Sorting and Processing Waste from Source.

Through this regulation, residents are asked to sort waste from home into several types, namely organic, inorganic, B3, and residue to reduce the burden of waste in Jakarta.

In this regulation, organic waste is directed to be processed again, such as into compost, maggot feed, or animal feed.

Meanwhile, inorganic waste in the form of plastic, paper, and bottles is encouraged to enter waste banks or be recycled.

This waste sorting program is implemented in households, hotels, restaurants, and cafes (HORECA).
