Regarding Trump's Threat, Iranian and Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss This Matter

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has condemned the threats made by the US President to target Iran’s energy infrastructure. Abbas assessed Trump’s threats as an overt admission of war crimes.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday (5/4/2026), Araqchi and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, discussed the latest developments in the region as well as international issues related to the US-Israel aggression war against Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Minister condemned the crimes committed by the US and the Zionist regime against the Iranian people over the last 37 days. Those crimes included attacks on Iran’s industrial and production infrastructure, hospitals, schools, residential areas, as well as Iran’s nuclear facilities and centres.

Araqchi emphasised the urgent need for action from relevant international bodies, particularly the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency, to condemn the US-Israel crimes.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also addressed the US threats regarding attacks on Iran’s energy facilities, calling the statement a clear admission of war crimes.

Araqchi called for a responsible approach based on international law from all influential parties in the UN Security Council, and urged the prevention of the Council’s use as a tool by the US.
