JAKARTA - Social media has been abuzz with discussions about the used price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which now starts at around Rp 350 million. This drop is quite drastic compared to the current new Ioniq 5 price, which begins at Rp 800 million.

In response, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, stated that the price decline in the market, particularly for used units, needs to be viewed with the proper comparison.

“The Hyundai Ioniq 5’s used price now is Rp 400 million to Rp 500 million. But the benchmark isn’t the current price of Rp 900 million,” said Fransiscus when met in South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

“The benchmark is the price when it was first sold. It was sold for Rp 750 million. So the drop is almost the same as for combustion (petrol) cars, 30 to 35 percent, not 50 percent,” he added.

Thus, Fransiscus considers the resale value of the Ioniq 5 to still be good and competitive compared to conventional engine vehicles.

“So if the drop is almost similar to petrol cars, the Ioniq 5 has proven in terms of resale value that it can match the resale price of petrol cars,” he said.

He also added that factors such as the ecosystem, including the availability of electric vehicle charging stations, contribute to the added value for consumers.

For information, when the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was first launched, it was priced at Rp 748 million for the top Standard Range variant, up to Rp 859 million for the Signature Long Range variant.
