Jakarta Metropolitan Police will soon provide updates on the progress of transferring the case files regarding allegations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The Head of Public Relations for Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the investigation process is almost complete. “In the near future, we will provide the results of the case file completion, and we will update on the ending process,” Budi told reporters in South Jakarta on Monday (11/5/2026). Meanwhile, in cluster two, Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma remain as suspects. The second transfer was announced by the Director of General Criminal Investigation for Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Police Commissioner Iman Imanudin, during a press conference on 17 April 2026. At that time, Iman announced that Rismon Sianipar, who was part of the suspects in cluster 2, had his suspect status dropped through the mechanism of restorative justice. Iman emphasised that the revocation of suspect status and investigation against Rismon does not affect the ongoing case for the remaining five suspects. “The termination of the investigation against Mr. RHS does not nullify the investigation process against the other suspects up to the court trial,” Iman said during the press conference on Friday (17/4/2026). However, three weeks after the process began, the suspects’ side has not yet received information on the completion of the case files. “(The case files) are still being studied and examined in depth,” said the Head of the Legal Information Section of the Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office, Dapot Dariarma, to Kompas.com on Thursday (7/5/2026). Jakarta Metropolitan Police have designated eight individuals as suspects in the case of allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma after a lengthy investigation. “Jakarta Metropolitan Police have designated 8 people as suspects in the case of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation reported by Mr. Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, during a press conference at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Friday (7/11/2025). In general, the eight suspects are charged under Article 27A and Article 28 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE), as well as Article 310 and/or 311 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum prison sentence of 6 years.
