Regarding the 8% Ojol Commission Cut, Palace Says Some App Operators Need Disciplinary Action

Jakarta, VIVA – The Presidential Palace, through the Minister of State Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia, Prasetyo Hadi, attended a meeting on Thursday, 23 July 2026, regarding the follow-up to the drafting of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) concerning online motorcycle taxis (ojol).

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, and attended by Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, and Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Maman Abdurrahman.

Also present were Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Chief Operating Officer of Danantara/Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Agency (BP BUMN) Dong Oskaria, and Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria.

Prasetyo stated that the government had carried out President Prabowo Subianto’s instruction to cut the commission rate imposed by ojol app operators to 8 per cent. Ojol drivers now receive 92 per cent of the fare.

“What matters is that the President’s instruction on the 92 per cent and 8 per cent fare split has genuinely been implemented on the ground,” Prasetyo told reporters at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

He affirmed that ojol drivers had informed the government that the 8 per cent app operator commission had been in effect since 1 July 2026.

However, Prasetyo admitted that the government must enforce discipline on several ojol app operators.

“So the friends from the National Ojol Coalition have conveyed that as of 1 July, it has been applied. Although indeed there are some app operator partners whose discipline we need to enforce,” said Prasetyo.

Regarding the presidential regulation (Perpres) on ojol, Prasetyo affirmed that the government would finalise it soon. However, the Gerindra Party politician could not yet confirm when the ojol Perpres would be issued.

“Regarding the Perpres, Mr Dasco has said that it is about to be finalised because we still need to have one more meeting with our friends from the Ojol Association,” he concluded.
