Regarding the 8% Ojol Commission Cut, Palace Says Some App Operators Need Disciplinary Action

The Presidential Palace, through State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, attended a meeting on Thursday, 23 July 2026, regarding the follow-up to the drafting of a Presidential Regulation on online motorcycle taxis (ojol). The meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and attended by Manpower Minister Yassierli, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Maman Abdurrahman, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas, Danantara Chief Operating Officer and Head of BP BUMN Dong Oskaria, and Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria. Prasetyo stated that the government has implemented President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to cut the commission rate for ojol app operators to 8 percent, meaning drivers now receive a 92 percent share of the fare. “The important thing is that the president’s order regarding the 92 percent and 8 percent fare split has been implemented in real terms on the ground,” Prasetyo told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta. He confirmed that ojol drivers have informed the government that the 8 percent app operator commission took effect on 1 July 2026. However, Prasetyo admitted the government needs to enforce discipline among several app operators. “Our friends from the National Ojol Coalition have conveyed that it has been implemented since 1 July. Although there are indeed some app operators whose discipline we need to enforce,” he said. Regarding the ojol presidential regulation, Prasetyo stressed that the government will finalise it soon, though the Gerindra Party politician could not yet confirm when it will be issued. “Concerning the presidential regulation, Mr Dasco has said it will be finalised shortly because we still need one more meeting with the Ojol Association,” he concluded.
