CENTRAL Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has commented on the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) sting operation in Cilacap Regency.

Luthfi stated that he has repeatedly emphasised the importance of integrity amongst regional leaders, deputy regional leaders, and civil servants. He expressed concern over the incident, particularly as two previous regents—those of Pati and Pekalongan—have been implicated in corruption cases.

“I have repeatedly stressed and emphasised the matter of integrity,” Ahmad Luthfi said in Semarang on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

The Central Java provincial government has partnered with the KPK to prevent corruption. The provincial administration has collaborated with the KPK’s Anti-Corruption Supervisory Unit to provide guidance to regional leaders and members of the Regional Legislative Assembly.

During the World Anti-Corruption Day commemoration, officials were also warned against budget irregularities and, most importantly, against violating the law.

Regarding the legal proceedings undertaken by the KPK against the Cilacap Regent, Luthfi has respected the steps taken by the anti-corruption agency.

He has also reiterated that this incident should serve as an important lesson for regents, mayors, their deputies, and civil servants.

“This is a lesson for all of us public officials, particularly regents and mayors, to possess strong integrity. Integrity is not merely spoken but must be realised in actions,” he emphasised.

The actions he referred to are those that do not violate the law and do not abuse authority. He considers this important so that the bureaucracy operates cleanly and effectively.

“Clean governance and good governance must become the essence of regents, mayors, and their civil servants,” he continued.

On this occasion, he requested that the Cilacap Regency government administration continue to provide optimal service to the community, particularly as the local government is preparing to provide services for the 2026 Eid holiday exodus.
