Regarding Data Centre Project, Rosan to Communicate with West Java Provincial Government
The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslant, stated that he will speak directly with the West Java Provincial Government regarding the BDx data centre construction project in Jatiluhur.
This statement comes in response to the West Java Provincial Government’s decision to temporarily halt the progress of the massive project. “Yes, I have just returned, and I will speak with them later,” he said, as reported on Thursday (1/10/2026).
As is known, the construction of the BDx data centre in Jatiluhur has been suspended because it has not yet met the necessary construction requirements. The West Java Provincial Government also plans to review several permits for other data centre projects in the area.
“A review will be conducted, as several permits were issued by the regency authorities. It is expected that the regency government can be more optimal in field supervision,” said the Head of the West Java Communication and Informatics Office, Adi Komar, to CNBC Indonesia on Wednesday (30/9/2026).
The construction of the BDx AI data centre in Jatiluhur commenced on 22 September 2026. The facility is situated on an 8,000-square-metre site with a total development area of 11 hectares.
The project, located five kilometres from the Jatiluhur Dam, is planned to have a capacity of up to 640 MW. The electricity supply will be sourced from PLN within the framework of Indonesia’s national power grid, exploring low-carbon energy pathways, including the use of hydropower schemes with PJT for sustainable clean energy.
The CGK4 data centre is set to be developed over three years. Construction has begun on Building 1, which will operate in stages to meet the increasing demand for AI. Building 1 will have a phased capacity of 120 MW, with operations scheduled to begin in early 2027.
