JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian Confederation of Labour Unions (KSPI) has clarified that it was not involved in the protest outside the House of Representatives (DPR RI) building, which resulted in the arrest of 101 people by police on Friday (1/5/2026).

KSPI Vice President Kahar S Cahyono stated that all labour masses under their coordination participated in the International Labour Day (May Day) commemoration in a centralised manner at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta.

“We KSPI were only at Monas. So we do not understand the actions outside Monas,” Kahar said when contacted by Kompas.com on Saturday (2/5/2026).

Therefore, KSPI was unaware of any other actions outside that location.

From the outset, they had directed the masses to express their aspirations peacefully during the event.

Kahar also confirmed that the 101 masses arrested by the police were not from KSPI.

Previously, 101 people were secured during the May Day action at the DPR/MPR RI building in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026).

The majority of them came from outside Jakarta.

Metro Jaya Police’s General Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, said the data was obtained from initial tabulation results.

In addition to their origins, Iman revealed that the age range of the secured individuals was between 20 and 35 years.

Based on initial examinations, the police have not yet determined whether they belong to a structured or trained group.

“Regarding whether they are structured or trained, we are still conducting further investigations. Because their initial statements indicate they are partial groups who arrived sporadically,” Iman stated.

“Regarding intellectual figures, of course, we will not stop here in our investigations. We will conduct further probes into the sources of their funding,” he added.

Currently, the 101 individuals are undergoing further examinations for deeper investigations.
