Refugees get polio vaccine

PEKANBARU, Riau: Some 404 Vietnamese children in the refugee center on Galang Island were given polio vaccines yesterday.

The Vietnamese were among 433,923 under-five-year-olds in Riau vaccinated in yesterday's mass immunization campaign.

The head of the provincial office of the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Salohot, said 6,269 polio vaccine centers were set up in the province for the purpose, Antara reported.

The centers involve 19,686 medical officers, 1,630 medical staff and 2,215 supervisors. (anr)
