Reformists, unite!

Reformists, unite!

From Jawa Pos

Reading news about Indonesia via Jawa Pos Online on the
Internet, I, who am studying in England, feel how my country is
heading toward destruction. I am also aware of the absence of
unity in the nation. Conflicting statements by government
officials, former officials who only blame the present condition
and disunity between students and the (real) reformists will
apparently cause the reform movement to deviate from its
objective.

What remains is mutual fighting, self-righteousness and a
negligence of the majority's interests, i.e. welfare and justice
for the people. Why do we not sit together at a table?

Why do we forget about Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union, which
disintegrated because of the interests of individual groups and
friends? Do we not have the guidance of Unity in Diversity? Let
us unite and solve the problem of the people's suffering. Let us
pray for prosperity and a long life for Indonesia.
