Refly Harun Responds to News That Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa Will Soon Face Trial

The legal teams representing Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, known as Dr Tifa, have responded to reports that the case files regarding allegations of a fake diploma involving Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), have been declared complete (P21) by the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office.

Refly Harun, the legal counsel for Roy and Tifa, stated that the remarks made by the Director of Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, do not yet constitute an official announcement. “We consider that this is not yet an official announcement, as it was not a dedicated press conference, but rather occurred at the end of a press conference for another case while answering journalist questions,” Refym said when confirmed on Tuesday.

This statement was made during a Q&A session with the media following a press conference regarding an alleged Umrah fraud case. Refly has not commented extensively on the claim that the case files are complete, noting only that the police official’s response appeared hesitant. “The answer still appeared hesitant. Therefore, it cannot be certain yet,” he added.

Previously, the Metro Jaya Regional Police stated that the case files for Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma regarding the allegations of President Joko Widodo’s fake diploma had been declared complete (P21) by the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office. “Alhamdulillah, as of today, the prosecutor has stated that the case files we sent to the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office no longer require further fulfilment of the deficiencies that we previously addressed,” said Director of Criminal Investigation Kombes Iman Imanuddin at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

Iman stated that the police would conduct the second stage of handover (Phase II) to the prosecutor’s office in the near future, although he could not confirm the exact timing. Following the Phase II handover, prosecutors will prepare the indictment, which will lead to the trial process. “We are currently coordinating the handover of evidence and the suspects,” Iman concluded.
