JAKARTA – A member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Lola Nelria Oktavia, has emphasised that law enforcement must be grounded in justice, humanity and uphold legal certainty.

Lola stressed this in response to the controversy surrounding a case involving socialite and Bibi Kelinci restaurant owner Nabilah O’Brien.

“I encourage law enforcement that upholds justice, humanity and legal certainty,” said Lola when confirmed on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Lola also urged the public to respond wisely to each development in legal cases and entrust their handling to competent authorities. This is deemed necessary to maintain public confidence in the national legal system.

“I respect the decision to halt the investigation in the case that once involved Nabilah O’Brien’s name as part of the authority of law enforcement officials working under the provisions of the legislation,” she said.

According to her, every legal process must be placed within professional, transparent procedures and the presumption of innocence to ensure that justice is felt by all parties involved.

She stated that the perspective of justice should not only be viewed from whether a case continues or not, but from the fulfilment of the principle of due process of law that guarantees the rights of every citizen.

For context, Nabilah, who was the victim of theft, was previously named as a suspect by the Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim) for alleged violation of the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE Law) relating to defamation and libel.

Nabilah was named a suspect by Bareskrim following a report filed by her customer, Zendhy Kusuma, who allegedly stole because she refused to pay for the large amount of food she had ordered.

However, the defamation case involving Nabilah and Zendhy has now ended peacefully. Both parties agreed to withdraw their respective police reports after signing a settlement agreement.

Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Indonesian National Police’s Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said the settlement was reached after the parties were brought together and mediation was conducted.

“The parties involved attended and conducted a peace agreement. In this peace agreement, as previously stated, each party has withdrawn their respective reports,” said Trunoyudo at the Police Headquarters on Sunday, 8 March 2026 evening.

According to Trunoyudo, the mediation and settlement process was facilitated after the police analysed two reports filed by each party at Mampang Prapatan Police Station and Bareskrim. Trunoyudo hopes the settlement can provide a sense of justice for all parties involved.

“In the mediation process and withdrawal, all parties removed posts from their respective social media accounts, which was part of the settlement agreement,” he said.
