The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Aan Suhanan, has urged the public to avoid the peak return flow for Eid 2026, predicted for 24 March 2026. This advice stems from data showing the peak exodus on 18 March as the highest in history.

During yesterday’s peak exodus, more than 270,000 vehicles exited through the four main toll gates, resulting in a simultaneous surge in traffic. The majority of vehicles leaving Jakarta headed towards the Trans-Java Toll Road, accounting for over 50%.

“Looking at the exodus flow, with the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy in place, travellers are encouraged to arrange their return to Jakarta before or after 24 March 2026,” Aan stated in a quoted remark on Sunday (22/3).

The aim, he said, is to disperse the peak return flow, providing comfort and safety for road users and avoiding vehicle pile-ups on the roads.

Specifically for logistics transport, Aan also urged all goods owners, vehicle owners, and drivers to continue complying with the rules on goods transport restrictions outlined in the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB).

“As stipulated in the SKB, the restrictions on goods transport during this Eid period apply to vehicles with three or more axles, goods vehicles with trailers, articulated vehicles, and those carrying mining products, quarry results, and building materials. These rules apply until 29 March 2026. All those not exempted must comply,” he concluded.
