Refill depots
Refill depots
From Warta Kota
The increasing number of water refill depots in Jakarta,
particularly in the area around Bekasi, has pleased residents
owing to the fact that they sell drinking water at more
affordable prices: Rp 2,500 for 19 liters compared to the price
of brand-name drinking water, which costs from Rp 6,000 to Rp
8,500 for 19 liters.
However, what worries us is the quality of the water and the
effects the water may have on customers due to the absence of
monitoring by the authorities.
We became concerned after seeing that the filters being used
are not in ideal condition for ensuring clean drinking water,
although they claim to have properly processed the water to
ensure its quality. But clear water is not a guarantee that it is
safe to drink or free from bacteria.
Therefore, in the interests of health, I appeal to the
regional administration and the Ministry of Health to monitor
these depots.
For the benefit of suppliers and consumers, all of us in the
middle of the income bracket hope these depots can maintain the
quality of their water.
