Referencing Case Involving Two Doctors Filing Mutual Reports, Richard Lee Says He Is "Sad and Ashamed"
Jakarta, VIVA – Dr Richard Lee returned to Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) on Thursday, 19 February 2026, to attend an examination as a suspect in a case involving alleged consumer protection violations.
The examination was the second such session, following a prior postponement due to a legal challenge filed at the South Jakarta District Court.
Richard arrived wearing a white shirt and white mask. Accompanied by his legal counsel, he immediately gave a statement to the press.
“I personally wish to thank members of the media. I respect the outcome of my pre-trial hearing and, in a spirit of cooperation, I am here to fulfil my obligations as a law-abiding citizen,” he told reporters.
He affirmed his readiness to be transparent during the examination process and to provide detailed information regarding the products he markets.
“I am prepared to give the clearest and most honest account possible about the products I sell,” he said.
Richard also denied selling illegal products, asserting that all items he markets hold official distribution permits.
“All the products I sell are legal and BPOM-registered, and are manufactured in accordance with applicable regulations. I have never sold unlicensed products that could potentially endanger the public,” he stated.
Behind the legal proceedings now ensnaring him, Richard admitted to harbouring a deep sense of sadness. He lamented that the conflict had drawn in fellow doctors, ultimately resulting in mutual police reports and both parties being named as suspects.
“What saddens me is that this conflict involves two doctors, two colleagues, two professionals who both sell skincare products, and it has ended with them filing reports against each other and both becoming suspects. I am sad and ashamed about that,” he said.
It was previously reported that the lengthy examination of cosmetic doctor Richard Lee as a suspect had been halted midway. After nearly 10 hours undergoing legal proceedings at Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Richard Lee complained of health issues and requested that the examination be temporarily suspended.
Richard Lee was known to have arrived at Jakarta Metropolitan Police on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM local time. One hour later, investigators began examining him in connection with alleged violations in the health and consumer protection sectors.
