Reebok provides training for aerobics instructors

JAKARTA (JP): Sports equipment manufacturer Reebok once again demonstrated its commitment to developing the fitness industry in Indonesia by providing equipment and training for fitness instructors.

"Through the Reebok Resolution campaign, or Innovasia, every year we have invited international fitness experts to come and improve the quality of Indonesian instructors through workshops," Reebok Indonesia general manager Ruby Sjabana said on Wednesday.

"Participants receive internationally recognized certificates upon completing the workshops which will add to their value as instructors."

Ruby was speaking at a media conference following the conclusion of the international fitness workshop, which was held on Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition to the workshop, an aerobics competition took place on Monday and Reebok will launch a new product here, the core board, on Thursday.

"The board provides dynamic three-dimensional movements designed to train the core group of muscles or the abdominal area. Even just standing on it increases the abdominal muscles up to 20 percent," said Jeffrey Scott of Reebok University USA.

Reebok University is an institution that provides advanced training for aerobics instructors.

Top Indonesian bodybuilder Ade Rai also took part in the conference. He said the concept of the core board was to always have coordination between the brain and the muscles.

"Just like in skipping, once you step on the core board you must stabilize every movement. This means that you burn calories faster.

"The device basically trains your abdominal muscles at the same time as other muscles," Ade said. (nvn)
