The impulsive lifestyle of the younger generation, which often disregards future risks, is becoming a significant concern. Many young people are currently finding themselves trapped in loans or debt in an attempt to satisfy personal desires.

In response to this trend, the Regional CEO of BNI, Bagus Ardani Sutoyo, has called for more prudent financial management. One key method is controlling one’s own impulses, a step deemed essential for the younger generation to pursue their goals of financial freedom.

A more effective approach is to set aside a portion of one’s income for savings first. Only after this is done should any remaining funds be used for daily necessities.

“First, we must be able to control ourselves. We must be able to prepare our finances. It is not about saving what is left over; we must first set aside a specific amount, whether daily or monthly, to be saved, and then use the remainder for our daily needs,” said Bagus during the Lampung Financial Festival at Novotel Bandar Lampung on Sunday (6/9/2026).

Furthermore, Bagus continued, the younger generation must also be capable of planning. This is necessary to determine how much funding can be allocated to savings versus daily requirements.

“We must plan what our essential daily expenditures look like. From that planning, we can then begin to save,” he explained.

“Additionally, be careful with consumptive habits and shopping for things we do not actually need. This is something that everyone should keep in mind regarding how to be wise in managing finances,” he concluded.
