Red Tie and All: Komeng Appears at MPR Annual Session, Asks for 'First Place'

Jakarta - Komeng was seen arriving at the DPR-MPR building to attend the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in the framework of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026). The session was to be directly attended by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Based on CNBC Indonesia’s observation, Komeng, who serves as a DPD member, was seen at the Senayan complex at 08:08 WIB. He was spotted wearing a red tie and a black suit. When asked about his expectations for the President’s speech, Komeng simply asked for first place. ‘I don’t have any expectations for the President. The important thing is to ask for first place. The important thing is to think about the people,’ Komeng told reporters. Several other political figures had already arrived, including the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, and 11th Vice President Boediono. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka was also present. Also seen were DPR member Titiek Soeharto, Nasdem Party Chairman Surya Paloh, and Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, who were also spotted in the DPR area. Previously, Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, confirmed the preparations for the Annual Session, which would be followed by a DPR Plenary Meeting for the submission of the 2027 State Budget Bill. Dasco also stated there were no significant differences in this year’s proceedings, except that some parts would be shortened to accommodate Friday prayers. ‘Except indeed some parts are shortened to catch the Friday prayer time,’ said Dasco.
