Red onions in Jakarta climb to Rp 58,062 per kilogram
Prices of red onions in Jakarta rose on Friday, 22 May 2026, by Rp 1,286 per kilogram to Rp 58,062 per kilogram. The rise in red onions was among the most notable movements among food commodities in Jakarta today.
In the chili group, price movements were mixed. Red curly chili rose Rp 602 to Rp 56,521 per kilogram, while red large chili (TW) also rose Rp 434 to Rp 64,467 per kilogram. Red bird’s eye chili decreased Rp 1,239 to Rp 85,628 per kilogram, though it remained the most expensive chili commodity. Green bird’s eye chili also declined Rp 309 to Rp 60,558 per kilogram.
In the rice segment, almost all varieties registered price increases. Setra I/Premium rice rose Rp 367 to Rp 16,900 per kilogram, IR 42/Pera rose Rp 163 to Rp 16,540 per kilogram, and IR 64 rose Rp 118 to Rp 15,382 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, wheat flour and table salt recorded slight declines.
In the vegetables and fruits sector, potatoes rose Rp 50 to Rp 18,777 per kilogram, tomatoes fell Rp 179 to Rp 18,322 per kilogram, watermelons rose Rp 500 to Rp 13,927 per kilogram, and peeled coconuts rose Rp 270 per fruit.
