Red Cross Youth having fun at camp
JAKARTA (JP): Around 3,500 members of Indonesian Red Cross Youth wound up a camping activity at Ibu Tien Soeharto Scouts Camping Ground in Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The Jumpa Bakti Gembira (Gather, Work and Have Fun) was opened on Saturday by Indonesian Red Cross chairperson Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana.
The Indonesian Red Cross city branch, which organized the event, said in a statement that skill competitions were held to test participants, such as in first aid, family care, and putting up and taking down tents. There were also competitions in writing, acting, poetry reading, choir, gymnastics, and trivia.
Participants were from primary schools and junior and senior high schools in Jakarta.
The organizers also donated clothes, food, books and stationery to 50 senior citizens and 50 foster children, the statement said. (07)
